Xcalak on the Fly was started by fishing-obsessed father and son team Jim and Chase Looney. The Looneys are lifelong fly-fishermen and long time career fishing guides. Both Jim and Chase spend their summers guiding in Alaska for trophy King Salmon and Trout. Jim was raised between Pine Island, Florida and Fairbanks, Alaska where he discovered his love for fishing. When Chase was born, Jim loaded his carseat under the steering console of his Action Craft and the rest is history. They have shared their passion for fishing for 30+ years and traveled the world together with fly-rods in hand. While Jim spent many winters chasing snook, redfish, and permit around the inshore waters of the Gulf of Mexico, Chase started traveling the Caribbean in search of permit, bonefish, and tarpon. After a family trip to Xcalak, Mexico several years ago they shared the idea of starting a very personalized, eco-friendly fishing lodge and began looking for real estate in the impressive area. When Casa Paraiso came up for sale, they knew it would be the perfect home base for Xcalak on the Fly. Their shared goal is to provide anglers with the most comfortable, all-inclusive experience, and unmatched fly-fishing opportunity. (And to catch lots of permit!!)
